Nerve Conduction Testing

The nerves in our body are engineered like electrical wires and are peripheral extensions of our brain and central nervous system. Our nervous system allows us to sense and interact with the outside world, and help our body to maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis is defined as a state of balance among all the body systems, that is needed for the body to survive and function correctly.

Nerve conduction testing allows the examiner to identify focal neuropathies (ulnar neuropathy across the elbow, or median neuropathy at the wrist), or disorders that globally affect the peripheral nervous system (polyneuropathies).
